he Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.
Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
Modern Version
The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The Grasshopper thinks the Ant ' s a fool and laughs & dances & plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
The World stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor Grasshopper allowed suffering so?
Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant ' s house.
Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter.
Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticizes the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.
The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper (many promising Heaven and Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance) .
Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for "Bharat Bandh" in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.
CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and Grasshoppers.
Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the ' Grasshopper Rath ' .
Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the ' Prevention of Terrorism Against Grasshoppers Act ' [POTAGA], with effect from the beginning of the winter.
Arjun Singh makes 'Special Reservation ' for Grasshoppers in Educational Institutions & in Government Services.
The Ant; fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes; its home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV.
Arundhati Roy calls it ' A Triumph of Justice ' .
Lalu calls it 'Socialistic Justice ' .
CPM calls it the ' Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden '
Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.
Many years later
The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar company in Silicon Valley .
100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere in India ...
because of loosing lot of hard working Ants and feeding the Grasshoppers, India is still a developing country!!!

India's per capita income continues to be the lowest in the world, despite being the fastest growing economy in the world.
While India will be amongst the richest countries in the world, its citizens will not be as wealthy as average Americans or Europeans.
We will still lack skilled labour.
Failure in quality education, lack of traditional and vocational training and policy blunders make it imperative that we need a structural change.
Number of children who cannot complete their education will not decrease.
57% of youth suffer some degree of unemployment.
90% of jobs require vocational skills
300 million youth will enter the labour force by 2025
25% of the the world's workers in 4 yrs will be Indians.
90% of our college output has bookish knowledge
58% of graduates make less than 75 000 per year
90% of jobs in India are skill based.
Youth unemployability is a bigger crisis than unemployment as poor quality of skills or education show up in low incomes rather than unemployment. The discontinuation of education leads to the accumulation of job seekers in the bottom of the education pyramid. We must ensure that every one we know completes their education.

"Earthquake rocks Delhi, adjoining areas
26 Nov 2007, 0444 hrs IST , AGENCIES
NEW DELHI: A minor earthquake rattled New Delhi and adjoining areas early on Monday morning, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
An official with the Indian Meteorological Department, which monitors earthquakes, said the 4.3-magnitude quake was only felt in New Delhi and the surrounding areas. It struck at about 4:43 a.m.
The epicenter of the tremor was at the Delhi-Haryana border at 28.6 N latitude and 77.9 E longitude".
This state rather create more highrises in the river bed under any pretext whatsoever should be busy assessing and reinforcing existing highrises in Delhi, if it had any sense of responsibility for the citizens left.
I wonder if our Parliament which is currently in session consider this important matter today?

Section 49-0 - Aditya
Did you guys know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone! Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. this is called 49-O
49-O is a section of The Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, which governs elections in India. It covers the procedures to be followed when a valid voter decides not to cast his vote, and decides to record this fact. In recent times, the urban educated electorate has not turned out in large numbers in Indian elections. This has been attributed to disillusionment with the system, and a perceived paucity of good candidates. In some cases, voters with valid identification documents have been turned away because impersonators had already cast their votes. Recording one's vote under Section 49-O is a choice that a voter can exercise to prevent electoral fraud, and misuse of his vote.
Since the ballot paper/EVM contains only the list of candidates, a voter cannot record his vote under Section 49-O directly. He must inform the presiding officer at the election booth. This violates the secrecy of the ballot.
Some recent articles suggest that in case the number of votes recorded under Section 49-O is greater than the maximum number of votes polled in favour of any of the candidates, a repoll is held. This is not explicitly mentioned in any of the sections of The Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961.

have you ever used this weapon against corrupt parties of india ...

49-O. Elector deciding not to vote.-If an elector, after his
electoral roll number has been duly entered in the register of voters
in Form-17A and has put his signature or thumb impression thereon as
required under sub-rule (1) of rule 49L, decided not to record his
vote, a remark to this effect shall be made against the said entry in
Form 17A by the presiding officer and the signature or thumb
impression of the elector shall be obtained against such remark.
as Aditya said, this is all mentioned in The Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, the repoll is not explicitly mentioned. we also should hav a repoll.

I like the way he killed the O'Dyer- uddham singh
DEV
Udham Singh said that he had a statement to make. He put on a pair of glasses, whispered to the warders, and produced a sheet of paper and began to read. Facing the Judge, he said:
"I say down with British Imperialism. You say India does not have peace. We have only slavery. Generations of so called civilization has brought for us everything filthy and degrading known to the human race. All you have to do is read your own history. If you have any human decency about you, you should die with shame. The brutality and blood thirsty way in which the so called intellectuals, who call themselves the rulers of civilization in the world are of bastard blood…"
Atkinson: "I am not going to listen to a political speech."
U Singh: "You asked me if I had anything to say."
Atkinson: "If you have anything to relevant to this case, say it."
U Singh: "I say this - this is my case. I was going to protest and this is what I am protesting."(He brandished the sheet of papers at the judge)
Atkinson: "Is it written in English?"
U Singh: "Yes."
Atkinson: "I shall understand it much better if you will hand it to me to read."
U Singh: "No, I want it for myself, not for you."
Atkinson: "I can not make out what you are saying."
U Singh: "You will understand what I am reading now. Do you want me to read it or not?"
Atkinson: "I shall understand much more of it if you give it to me to read."
U Singh: "Who will read it?"
Atkinson: "I will read it."
U Singh: "I want the jury and the whole lot to read it."(McLure reminded the judge that under section six of the Emergency Powers Act, Udham Singh's speech could not be reported or heard in the camera.)
Atkinson: "You may take it that nothing will be published of what you say."
U Singh: "Eh?"
Atkinson: "You must stick to the point, but go on."
U Singh: "I did it to protest and this is what I mean. I want to explain. The jury was misled about the address. I shall read it now. Shall I read it now?"
Atkinson: "Yes."
U Singh: "I shall like to read the lot, you know."
Atkinson: "You are only entitled to say why the death sentence should not be passed upon you. You are not to entitle to make a political speech."
U Singh: (Shouting):"I DO NOT CARE ABOUT SENTENCE OF DEATH. IT MEANS NOTHING AT ALL. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT DYING OR ANYTHING." (Thumping the rail of the dock, he exclaimed): "WE ARE SUFFERING FROM THE British EMPIRE. (He continued more quietly): "I am not afraid to die. I am proud to die. I want to help my native land, and I hope when I have gone, that in my place will come others of my countrymen to drive the dirty dogs. I am standing before an English jury in an English court. You people go to India and when you come back you are given prizes and put into the House of Commons, but when we come to England we are put to death. In my case I do not care about it, but when you dirty dogs come to India - the intellectuals they call themselves, the rulers - they are of bastard blood caste, and they order machine guns to fire on Indian students without hesitation… Machine guns on the streets of India now down thousands of poor women and children wherever your so-called flag of democracy and Christianity flies. I have nothing against the public at all. I have more English friends in England than I do in India. I have nothing against the public. I have great sympathy with the workers of England, but I am against the dirty British Government. You people are suffering the same as I am suffering through those dirty dogs and mad beasts. India is only slavery. Killing, mutilating and destroying. We know what is going on in India, people do not read about it in the press. Hundreds of thousands of people being killed by your dirty dogs…"
Atkinson: "I am not going to any more, you can put this paper away. I am going to pass sentence upon you."

Atkinson: "I am not going to hear any more of that."
U Singh: "You asked me if I had anything to say."
Atkinson: "I am not going to hear…"
U Singh: "You people are dirty. You don't want to hear from us about what you are doing in India. Beasts, Beasts, Beasts…" The judge made the proclamation of the sentence of death on Udham Singh. When the sentence was passed, thrusting his glasses back into his pocket,
Udham Singh thumped his clenched fist on the rail of the dock and shouted three words in Hindustani: "INQLAB, INQLAB, INQLAB" and then: "DOWN WITH British IMPERIALISM. DOWN WITH British DIRTY DOGS! AND LONG LIVE India!"

Students should Follow Nobl Ideals of Indian Cultr
DEV
Modern students are highly intelligent. Their intelligence should be properly channelised. They should be made aware of what is important for them in life. That is the type of education we have to give them. But, due to the impact of western culture, students are being given such education that has no relevance to their life. Under the influence of western culture, they are developing limitless desires, unnecessary relationships and are crossing the limits of propriety. Indian culture is highly sacred and noble. It has demonstrated high ideals for the rest of the world to emulate. Unfortunately, the Bharatiyas have forgotten their own culture and have become slaves to western culture. The difference that should be observed between men and women with regard to their conduct is totally forgotten. The history of Bharat is replete with examples of women who have demonstrated great ideals. Since time immemorial, the culture of Bharat has stood as a beacon light, showing the path of redemption to the people of the world. But these days, leaders themselves are unaware of our glorious culture. Bharat is the birthplace of men and women of great virtues who made great sacrifices to uphold this ancient culture. This is the land ruled by the noble king Harishchandra who considered truth as his very life-breath. This is the land that gave birth to Sita who proved her chastity by coming out of blazing fire unscathed. People today have forgotten the ideals as exemplified by noble and virtuous women like Draupadi, Savitri and Damayanti who proved that women were in no way inferior to men in terms of courage, determination and power. Hence, one should never look down upon women. They are endowed with infinite divine power.
Forbearance is the real beauty in this sacred land of Bharat. The nectarine feeling in this country is the feeling of love towards one’s mother. (Telugu Poem)
When India calls we should stand for her.

the blueline buses has bcum the new suicide point of Delhites...u are fed up of ur life try catching the blueline buses...even the CM Sheila Dixit admitted dat she wud prefer travelling by foot...really this comes as a shame to us, wen the CM speals lik this and still there has been no step taken towards its solution...
ADITYA
main reasons are:
1. most of blue lines are owned by influential people
2. government has not buses to serve everyone.
3. DTC buses suck....coz the staff is really unruly and never on time...the drivers never stop on bus stop unless you plead with them.
4. DTC is running into losses coz most of the people travel without tickets.....n those old conductors dont give a damn ..coz they are too lazy.......
well a welcome change is the new low floor HCBS buses

"people of delhi do not know to walk on road"..CM Sheila Dixit
a sad comment from the representator of delhi...how can the CM forget that its these very people that have given her the right to say so...???
to some part i agree that people do not walk with the true civic sense...i've also felt it...u go to cp and u'll find people crossing the roads even though there are subways..
but again we can't really blame them...the condition of subways are poor and insecure for the female lot...moreover it smells worse than a toilet...
and while crossing the roads with the help of "paidal par path"...imagine an individual who has worked all day in office...he is too tired to use dat...few steps have been taken..lik some have been upgraded wid installations of escalator but more needs to be done and quickly...
and even wen i m writin this i youth(on bike) has been killed in Noida by the killer line...now the CM wud say dat people does not know how to drive,!!!
i've been in DElhi for 3 months and i've travelled a lot...i've used metros, buses(bothdtc&blueline), autos...and it is difficult tryin to catch one of those blueline buses,,
governmnet must ensure that proper training is given to drivers and conductors b4 they start controlling the bus...moreover ot must be ensured that the drivers get adequate rest b/w successive journeys...hcbs are good options but agin they are in there nascent stage...smthin has to be done now until one day we come under the wheels of those killer lines...!!!!
the blueline buses has bcum the new suicide point of Delhites...u are fed up of ur life try catching the blueline buses...even the CM Sheila Dixit admitted dat she wud prefer travelling by foot...really this comes as a shame to us, wen the CM speals lik this and still there has been no step taken towards its solution...
